TUCCCC 2024 Keynote Speaker

Sally D. Stabb, Ph.D., LP

After earning her doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Kansas in 1988, Dr. Stabb initially landed at the University of Memphis. After 2 years, she migrated to Texas Woman’s University where she has spent the last 33 years as a faculty member and doctoral training director.  She is an experienced supervisor and member of the training community; she notes, “It has been a joy to be a part of the professional journey of so many gifted practicum students, doctoral interns, and post-docs; these are among the most rewarding of professional activities I do.” She has helped to train over 500 master’s and doctoral level psychotherapists. Dr. Stabb has been consistently involved in issues regarding training at the national level, and has received the Outstanding Training Director Award from the Society of Counseling Psychology (SCP; Division 17 of the American Psychological Association), served as a reviewer for the journal Training and Education in Professional Psychology,  and co-authored the most recent version of the Counseling Psychology Model Training Program. Dr. Stabb is deeply committed to issues of social justice and works hard to be an effective ally/accomplice to those holding marginalized identities, with a focus on structural changes to the way we work with students.

Recently retired from TWU and pacing herself while exploring her next emergent career(s), when not doing not doing psychology stuff, you can find her walking with her two terrier rescues, trying out new recipes from across the globe, tending her garden, or planning her next international getaway with her partner. Dr. Stabb is also working on becoming certified with the Academy of Dog Trainers.
